Burberry Prorsum Resort 2012 and the use of African Style: Pro or Con?

Hello everyone!

I see every one (specially Hooligans) loved my latest post, about Vanessa Martins on Bruno Mars' video "It Will Rain". Gosh I still feel the goosebumps. As I said before, I will keep an eye on her, and it will be posted here, on your blog ;)

Anyway, I thought I'd just let you gush over this new collection from Burberry Prorsum - legend on the classic and chicest trench coats. Please bear with me, I'm a sucker for fashion weeks and collections, and fashion houses. And Fashion.

Africa is in Vogue!! Clearly inspired by african patterns, styling and colors, Christopher Bailey made a colorful collection, mixed, fresh, and winter-appropriate. I saw many fellow bloggers commenting on how this use of African style by big fashion houses will affect our very hard work as African Designers in the world, and I admit I was skeptical too, but I'd rather be optimistic, and think that this can be really good for us.

I honestly think that besides the obvious inspiration, it can be positive for us fashion designers in Africa, there were several A-List celebrities wearing this collection, and I believe it will draw the world's attention to the African world. This could be a door opening.

Anna Wintour - US Vogue Editor-In-Chief
We all know Ms. Wintour isn't much of a fashion victim in terms of what she wears, and wearing these awful boots with this beautiful Burberry african print trench coat is a proof of that. But if Vogue's boss can rock it, everyone will want to do that!

A close up to the shoes:

Don't you just love these shoes? Celebrities seem to love them too. They're amazing.
I know that seeing this trend can be exciting and worrying at the same time, but you know, fashion is about inspiration, and... It's a mix of cultures and creation. I see that, with this collection, Burberry showed the world how beautiful african patters suit every skin tone, hair, style and that it is really, beautiful.
Fellow African designers, my word to you: let's keep it up, and get in the spotlight!!

This week, African designers based in the United States will be featured on the blog, so, keep posted.
Tell me, what do you think?
Which of these looks is your favorite?
I know I'm lacking on post about accessories, beauty tips, but I also need your input here, what would you like to see here, in this blog? Let me know :)

Ciao!!
