Designer Spy: Mimi Plange SS12 and collaboration with Manolo Blahnik
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I hope you had a better weekend than I did. But hey I just remembered I owed you a new post, this time about Designer Mimi Plange.
Ghanaian-born, New York based designer, Mimi plange has climbed up some great stairs, with her outstanding and flawless style and work. Designers, editors, celebrities are coming to love her more and more everyday. Her designs have been worn by the likes of Rihanna, Kristin Cavallari, Estelle, and more!
Her Spring Summer 2012 collection, "Flower in the Desert" was unveiled recently, showing amazing tailoring skills. One word about this collection? Fashionable.

Mimi is said to be inspired by the African style and traditions, on which she bases on to make her beautiful work come to life.
But hold on, that is not all. Her collection was unveiled in an event, with the presence of Editor-at-large of Vogue, Andre Leon Talley, who has said "Plange is a name to watch—she’s got great promise.".
That promise was also acknowleged by Manolo Blahnik, who collaborated with the designer in the creation of two pairs of beautiful shoes, which you can see the models wearing:
Asked about the inspiration for the creation of these beautiful textures and colors, present in the whole collection, she explained: I wanted to
take the Eastern floral of Spring, the traditional dress of the
Himba, the Victorian dress of the Herero and blend them together into
something modern, soft and strong. The shoes are reflective of that
spirit-modern shapes and heels grounded with traditional beading,
lambskin leather and floral patterns. It has been wonderful to see the
inspiration showcased with the beauty of a Manolo Blahnik shoe and I am
truly honored to have had the opportunity to be able to collaborate with
the brand”. Needless to say more.
Manolo has very few collaborations with other designers, that must mean something, right?
You go, Mimi!!
The shoes are yet to be priced. But I am in love with both! Which one was your favorite?
Ciao!!
